Join theatrical and musical director David Rogers for a 5 session workshop series where you will learn how to make the most of your theatrical audition season. Cost includes 5 sessions plus course materials - the book "Audition" by Michael Shurtleff (you will receive at your first session). Ages 15 and up Students get 10 hours in class time AGENDA: Saturday mornings, starting March 25th, 9 AM – 11 AM Workshops will run from March 25th through April 15th, 9 AM – 11 AM, and April 22nd from noon to two. This final afternoon date will be a mock audition in front of a panel of six KC Metro directors/music directors. Session 1, March 25th, 9 AM – 11 AM Cold readings, character development, responding in the moment Session 2, April 1st, 9 AM – 11 AM Monologue selections, both classical and contemporary Session 3, April 8th, 9 AM – 11 AM Song selection, each student will work through both a slow and fast selection Session 4, April 15th, 9 AM – 11 AM In class audition preparation and feedback of audition pieces Session 5, April 22nd, noon to 2 PM Semi-public recital, mock audition in front of 5 to 6 directors from around the Kansas Metro area, after the mock auditions the directors will give feedback to the students to help them continue their audition preparation process. At the end of this class series the goal is for each student to have learned the 12 guideposts in the ‘Audition’ book, have two monologues (one classical and one contemporary), and two songs (one fast and one slow) prepared for auditions. Students will also gain confidence in doing cold readings with a partner, and making strong choices in the high pressure environment of a live audition.
